Dr. Peter P. de Gijsel

Short Profile

Professor Peter P. de Gijsel has been appointed the new dean of the Maastricht School of Management as of 15 January 2010. He succeeded Professor Ben Veltman, who was the interim dean since May 2009.

In the past years, De Gijsel was professor of Economics and “Deutschlandbeauftragter für Forschung und Lehre” at Utrecht University, and honorary professor at the University of Osnabrück. He was also the founding dean of the Utrecht University School of Economics (USE). Previously, De Gijsel worked at Maastricht University in various positions, the last of them being as honorary professor.

On 1 October 2009, De Gijsel was appointed dean of the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (part of Maastricht University). In his position as dean of both institutes, De Gijsel will explore the opportunities for far-reaching collaboration. In the coming two years, he will come up with suggestions on how this collaboration could take shape, which he will then implement on the basis of specific joint projects.
